Mobile Computing Lead
Salary $85-90k plus bonus
Overview:
Seeking a professional mobile computing and communications lead. This position is responsible for identification, evaluation, prioritization, implementation and support of mobile and wireless technology.

This role demands strategic, tactical and operational skills. Responsibilities include strategic mobile solutions planning, technical cost/benefit analysis, requirements and technology analysis, mobile application design and integration, vendor management, and overall program/lifecycle management.

Responsibilities:
- Refine and execute the standard operating procedures for forecasting, procuring, preparing, deploying and tracking handheld computing assets.
- Manage relationships with 3rd party hardware and software providers to ensure compliance with service level agreements, awareness of pending enhancements, identification and resolution of issues.
- Management of performance scorecards, interpretation and application of the contracts and escalation of key issues
- Evaluate new mobile and wireless communications technologies against the strategies and requirements of our Company.
- Leverage experience in mobile computing hardware/software and communications hardware/software to assess the market and determine applicability to our environment. Work to define a technology plan for evolution and introduction of technology.
- Assess wireless vending communication hardware and software. This involves gathering and assessing business requirements, identification of commercial providers, assessment of their offerings and recommendations on how to proceed. This will also involve negotiations regarding contracts and implementations.
- Assess, design, test, implement and support mobile and wireless applications.
- Leverage knowledge of MSFT and SAP development technologies and standard development processes to define architecture, integration/configuration, and application and infrastructure design considerations including security, and communication protocols.
- Develop and execute test plans for projects - integrating into overall project plan.
- Provide hands-on support to troubleshoot problems - often involving multiple vendors and technologies.
- Provide on-site support for implementations and ongoing production support.
- Define, develop, document, implement and measure lifecycle management practices.
- Interpret and apply industry and vendor performance metrics to our environment and develop plan for gaining maximum life from various products.
- Develop detailed financial budgets for the maintenance and procurement of various components.
Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of experience with mobile device support and management. Extensive experience with mobile hardware evaluation, selection, configuration, troubleshooting, and field-based support. Experience with Symbol products - handheld computers, scanners, fork-truck mounted units - highly desired.
- Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows Mobile 2003 and 5.0 required.
- 6-8 years of experience with mobile and wireless technologies, including 802.11, RFID, cellular and Bluetooth.
- Experience with extending applications to mobile devices using middleware products, mobile .NET application development platform, encryption and authentication algorithms, networking protocols
and mobile device security
- Strong leadership skills: collaboration, motivation, compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technical knowledge of client-server and web-based system architectures
- Applied knowledge of end-user system interaction/usability
- Thorough understanding of structured development methodology
- SAP mobile technologies desired
