Can't remember what podcast I was listening to when I heard about the Volt concept car (Chevrolet Volt), but its a very cool idea. These types of cars run completely off electricity which gives you the most options for powering them. You can plug the car into a 120-volt outlet and let it charge overnight, and you can recharge while in use through regular gasoline, E85, E100, biodiesel, or hydrogen fuel cells.
